Pavarotti Nessun Dorma vinyl single. A few years ago I got into a phase of collecting vinyl records and when I saw this single in a local Cancer Research UK charity shop I couldn't help but add it to my collection.
Pavarotti's version of Nessun Dorma has become inextricably linked with football and, of course, the drama, passion and theatrics of Italia 90.
There has been a bit of a debate about who at the BBC decided to use this piece for their Italia 90 coverage; was it Des Lynam, Gerald Sindstadt, Brian Barwick or Phil Bernie? Whoever it was deserves credit for such an inspired decision.
Now all I need to do is find where I put my portable turntable to get this piece of vinyl spinning again while thinking of Des Lynam in his prime!
