Tony Mitchell: 1958, Lincoln City v. Grimsby Town

Grimsby Town were playing away at Lincoln for an evening kick off. My mother had taken me as I was only 12 years old. Unfortunately the traffic was so heavy that we had to get off the bus and walk to the ground. By the time we got in to Sincil Bank, Grimsby Town were losing 2-0. By half time they were losing 4-0.

In the second half there was a complete transformation and the Grimsby Town centre forward Ron Rafferty scored four goals and the score was 4-4.

In the final minute Grimsby Town got a corner and Ron Stockin got in front of Ron Rafferty and headed over the bar to deny Town the win!

Final score Lincoln City 4 Grimsby Town 4
