Clifton Morgan: 2013, our first matches - visitors from South Africa

I have supported NUFC since the age of 8 after meeting a fan named Bob Polkinghorn who bled black and white.

I got my girlfriend into football through the World Cup being held in our home country in 2010 - she was a rugby fan first and foremost. It was steady progress, teaching her the rules and the reasoning. The toughest part was keeping her attention as goals didn't come as often as points do in rugby matches.

The signing of Yohan Cabaye peaked her interest, as a France-lover, she was delighted to have "Dreamboat" to look at while watching the game - so thanks goes out to Yohan for his help in getting her to love the club as much as I do.

After much deliberation and saving, we managed to get over to Newcastle to see my first ever NUFC game, and her first ever football match in December 2013. Southampton at home. We drew 1-1, and it was a day we won't forget - only problem was that Cabaye was suspended, so we had to wait until 29 December to see him in the flesh! In between matches, I got her a personalised shirt for Christmas (she cried). The Arsenal game - we lost, but between L7 views, non-stop fan chanting, and standing the whole game, she fell deeply in love with the club. That is by far my favourite NUFC memory to date, and it is something we will share for many years to come.
