My son supported York City FC but also Man United FC and Man United came to York to play at Bootham Crescent in the Coca Cola Cup in 1993. He wrote a poem about whether he should support Man United or his home town, and in the poem he chose York. He won the competition and we got free tickets to the match and he met Peter Schmeichel, Eric Cantona etc. He took penalty shots against Peter Schmeichel at half time. He was only six years old but I shall never forget that day and neither will he.
