My memory is of the 70's standing there freezing in the winter with white knuckles watching the mighty Tangerines just miss promotion to Division one every season.
The Mickey Walsh goal of the season was spectacular and we were filmed running on the pitch with everyone else at the end of the game- my first TV appearance, ha ha ha.
When they pointlessly sacked manager Alan Brown we did a petition and got some of the players to sign it amongst the 1000 fans on there- we should have gone up that year but ended up starting the slide that was arrested by the genius of Ian Holloway...
John Robb
John is a journalist, author, TV and radio presenter and boss of the Louder Than War website. He has written several music books including biographies of The Stone Roses and Charlatans and the brilliant Punk Rock: An Oral History. His band Goldblade continue to fight the punk rock war. John was a member of the Justice Tonight Band who formed to help the campaign for justice for the families of the 96 people who died at Hillsborough.
