Gerald Howell: 1967, my first home game

 

My first game at Ashton Gate: a 5-0 home defeat to Everton in the 2nd round of the League Cup, 13th September 1967.

Everton names included: Gordon West, Howard Kendall, Brian Labone, Colin Harvey, Alan Ball, Joe Royle etc. Scorers: Kendall (2), Brown, Hurst and Royle.

City team: Gibson, Jacobs, Briggs, Parr, Low, Bush, Derrick, Crowe, McIlmoyle, Sharpe, Peters. Sub, Tainton.
Crowd: 22,054
