Graham Knight: 1968, travelling home with the players

17th February 1968 - My 16th birthday.

To celebrate I was going up to Middlesbrough to see the 4th round FA cup tie against City (we'd beaten the Gas in the third round). We managed a 1-1 draw thanks to Chris Garland equalising after a Gordon Parr own goal had put Middlesbrough ahead.

What made my day though was to discover City travelling back on the same train as me and my pal.

We spent 20 minutes sat in a compartment chatting to Alec Briggs and Gordon Parr.

Can you imagine that happening today?

Graham Knight
