Matt Tees: 1971/72 Division Four Title win

Match days

My match day routine always included two boiled eggs for lunch and then head down to the ground for around 2pm. Most of the lads would get stripped and ready by 2:35 but I always liked to leave it to the last minute, get changed and get on the pitch, I preferred just to get on with things and not think too much.

Best memory of Grimsby Town

?

Nothing could beat the final game of the season against Exeter. You couldn't have planned it any better. When we got out on the park, I think Exeter were shocked at the size of the crowd, over 22,000 were packed in. I said to them, "there's no way you are going to win today" we just knew we were going to win that game. We had a great bunch of lads and had a great season, I just knew we were going to win.

We knocked in three goals and in the final minutes the fans were all lined up behind the goal ready to run on to celebrate. When the final whistle blew we got swamped, someone hoisted me up on their shoulders and I got carried off the pitch. It was one of the greatest moments of my career.
