Steve Watson: My debut, Barcelona in the Nou Camp, the 83 promotion team

Best Memory

My debut obviously springs to mind. Obviously playing so early, very good, two or three very good games spring to mind, your Manchester United’s, your Barcelona’s, playing in the Nou Camp with your home town club. But, yeah, probably my debut, I mean, to make my debut at 16 is special and to be Newcastle’s youngest player was really special. I came on against Wolves away, It would have been November, I left school in June and made my debut in November so it was pretty surreal.

Favourite memory before joining the club

The group I used to watch was the promotion group of 83 so it was Beardsley, Waddle, Keegan, McDermott, Roeder and lucky enough to have turned up playing under two of them but also playing with one of them as well, Beardsley, so yeah, a lot of dreams came true.
