Michael Hubbert: 1971/1972, my first match and two Easter matches

I started to attend matches in the 1971-72 season. A few things stick in my mind, the first match I attended was Shrewsbury in the League Cup. It was a match under floodlights, the atmosphere that brought, a big crowd, simple things that you never saw or heard on t.v. like the real sound of the ball being kicked. I was hooked. Then as the season progressed a match versus Northampton when I seem to remember Town were losing, Matt Tees stood in front of the goalie, not sure what he said but the goalie pushed him over - penalty! Never seen that before or since! Then the Easter games, once again a great atmosphere, two home games on successive days we had won on the Good Friday and the Saturday game was a tense affair, we walked to the bottom of the stand with many others to be able to leave quickly as the whistle blew, then Mike Hickman scored a last minute winner. What a celebration that was.
