Carol Ross: George Best

When I was about 5 years old, I got a kiss from George Best

When players were injured they used to visit the brine baths at Droitwich Spa. My Mum took me along because he was so famous and that's where I met him. It's my claim to fame!

September is World Alzheimer's Month. Memories of football and sport are being used in groups across the UK to help trigger memories for those living with dementia.

Saturday 14th September 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the first team debut of a 17 year old from Belfast who would go on to become one of the most gifted footballers in the history of the game. George Best first pulled on the red jersey of Manchester United in a league match against West Brom. The game ended in a 1-0 victory to United but it would be another three months before Sir Matt Busby would give the youngster another run out. In his second game he netted his first goal for the Red Devils and the rest, as they say, is history.
