I am in my usual spot in the popular side half way down the terrace on the half way line.
Nattrass moves out of defence at right back, Supermac is keeping pace with him through the middle. As they approach the halfway line Nattrass squares the ball into the centre circle. Mac doesn't break stride and hits the ball left footed like a shell from a howitzer. The shot rising all the time crashes past Mark Wallington into the far top left hand corner of the goal at the Leases end. Mac said in the paper the next day "I knew he was an inexperienced keeper because he went for it.
Years later the Sun ran an article asking managers what was the best goal they had ever seen and the then Leicester manager (Tony Jago I think?) said Macs was the best he had seen.
Not on cameras anywhere .

Malcolm Macdonald - Supermac - was signed from Luton Town in 1971, scored a hat-trick on his home debut against Liverpool and went on to score 95 goals in 187 appearances before his transfer to Arsenal in 1976.
Newcastle United Foundation have a heritage project for fans of all ages called Toon Times.
Toon Times will culminate with a major Newcastle United exhibition at the Discovery Museum, Newcastle, although in the lead up to this event Toon Times wishes to reach out to all Newcastle United fans across the North East and further afield to get involved and share their memories, experiences, photos and memorabilia what people have collected over the years.

Yes a great goal plus I watched supermack score a similar one when the NUFC goalie spotted him un marked just inside his own half hit a long ckik for supermack to chase where passed two defenders and scored
