Richard Mitchell: 1992, my first match - David Kelly goal

Got to be my first game but also the goal, I had begged my skint parents from aged 6 to go to a game but they just couldn't manage it .then one day my dad says let's go to town took me on the bus from Killingworth just saying I could buy a program I was excited by that!

We got there atmosphere amazing we needed to beat Portsmouth at home to keep up out chances of staying up and I could sense the worry , my dad let me buy a program and as I walked away he pulled a scarf from his coat "might as well go watch it now " he said !!!!!! Wow game a blur just remember David Kelly smashing in a late winner and me falling in love even more with Newcastle United ........ Big game but a even bigger goal in our history

We are supporting the project by helping to collect NUFC memories online - fans can share their memories on the Replay Football website, simply select the Toon Times tag when submitting yours.
