Indeed they had - I was away on holiday and missed that game but went to Anfield a few days later for the return where we lost despite a Bobby Collins goal. When he scored the 'Pool Kop sang "W'ell hang Bobby Collins from the Kop". Scousers around me told me that was the highest accolade a visiting player could get in those days
