Celtic v Atletico Madrid. 10th April 1974. European Cup Semi Final, 1st Leg. Parkhead.
A crowd of 70,000 were packed into the ground and right from the kick off Atletico were determined to stop Celtic playing by whatever means. Jimmy Johnstone in particular was the victim of some horrendous challenges and the referee sent three of the Spanish side off and booked seven. At the final whistle Atletico celebrated the 0-0 draw and were booed off the pitch by the home support as scuffles broke out in the tunnel.
