The semi final of the cup winners cup at Goodison:
I’d gathered enough money from down the couch and all my pockets for my son and myself to get into the match. We walked the six miles to the ground as we could not afford the bus fare. When we got to the ground, I found that the price had been put up, so now I found we were 30p short.
I was gutted as I would never ask anyone for money but I spotted a person I worked with in the queue and I swallowed my pride and asked him. He gave me the 30p and we watched the greatest game of football Everton ever played at Goodison.
The crowd were fantastic and to this day my son still says he knew how hard it was for me to ask someone for money.
