As a 10 year old boy I made first trip to Wembley Stadium to watch my team, Aston Villa (then in the old 3rd division) play Tottenham Hotspur. The train journey and the walk to the stadium was so exciting as there were thousands of fellow Brummies decked out in claret and blue.
The noise from the Villa end was deafening as the teams came onto the pitch. The match was fairly even until Martin Chivers scored 2 goals for Spurs and won them the cup. The Villa fans sang until the end as we were so proud of our team. I remember crying as we walked from the stadium but my Dad made things better by promising me that we would come back soon and see the Villa win a cup. And we did! 4 years later we beat Norwich to win the League cup and this time I shed tears of joy. Up the Villa!!!
Villa lost the 1970 Final 2-0 and won the 1975 Final 1-0
