Marek Gonnella: 1988 Simod Cup Final

As a life long fan of a club which at that point had spent most of its life in the bottom two divisions, commentating for local radio on Reading's first ever trip to Wembley in the 1988 Simod Cup Final is an abiding memory. Cup fever gripped the town and the Royals pulled off an amazing 4-1 victory over then first division Luton Town to lift the trophy. One of the biggest thrills for me was touring the stadium and walking the pitch with the players the day before as I gathered interviews for the match day programme. It was an honour and a privilege to be part of such a day.
