I was part of the squad but not involved against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford. On leaving the changing room after the team talk Brian Clough came out of their dressing room with dirty slip on shoes, he asked if anyone could give them a clean. All the apprentices had gone so I said I would do it. 10 mins later I knocked on the away door, and handed him his shoes. He handed me a smile, a thanks and a crisp £20 note!
