Wayne scored the winning goal during extra time in the 1998 Football League Trophy (Auto Windscreens Shields Trophy) final against Bournemouth as Grimsby won 2-1 in front of 62,432 spectators.
Wayne started his career at Leyton Orient and also played for Blackburn, Plymouth Bolton and Huddersfield.
The Alzheimer's Society recently launched a national initiative called Dementia Friends which is giving people an understanding of dementia and the small things people can do that make a difference to people living with dementia.
