On 20th October 1993 Bryan was in the Norwich team that became the only British team to beat German giants Bayern Munich in their Olympic Stadium with goals from Jeremy Goss and Mark Bowen. The second leg was a 1-1 draw at Carrow Road meaning Norwich won the tie 3-2 on aggregate and went on to play eventual champions Inter Milan.

Bryan joined Norwich City in 1986 from Aberdeen and went on to make over 400 appearances for the club winning the Player of the Year twice and was made an inaugral member of the Norwich City Hall of Fame. He made 6 appearances for Scotland.
