On May 26th 1997 Crystal Palace secured promotion to the Premier League by beating Sheffield United 1-0.
Bruce started his career at Watford and became the first teenager to be transferred for £1 million when he joined Palace in 1994. He left Palace in 1998 to join Barnsley.
